Roosevelt Lovelace

Deacon Roosevelt Lovelace, age 80 of Phenix, died Sept. 29, 2017 in Lynchburg. He was the son of the late Mr. Tobie Lovelace and Mrs. Blanche Hurt Lovelace. He was married to Mrs. Shirley Hayes Lovelace.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Lovelace, Floyd Lovelace and Kenneth Lovelace.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Hayes Lovelace of Phenix; two daughters, Veronica (David) Dews, Sr. of Phenix, VA and Cheryl Lovelace of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, David Dews, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Dominique Dews of Hampton, VA; one god grandson, Nicholas Abbitt of Appomattox, VA; two brothers, Paul Lovelace of NY, and Dave (Patricia) Lovelace of Red House, VA; three sisters, Edna Wright, Eva Johnson and Ruby Lovelace of Washington DC; two sisters-in-law, Virginia (Walter) Ford and Carthelia Hayes of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nieces, nephew and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at 11a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House with interment in the church cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.JeffressFuneralHome.com. Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Brookneal was in charge of arrangements.
