Rebecca Sue ‘Becky’ KearneyRebecca Sue “Becky” Kearney, 66 of Richmond, passed away on Dec. 31. She was born on Nov. 6, 1957, to the late William “Pete” Kearney and Dewana “Mae” Owen Kearney. Becky was a 1975 graduate from Randolph-Henry High, she then attended the Pan American Business School where she received her business degree. 

Becky’s first job was with the SPCA, she loved animals and raised Great Danes and French Bulldogs. She was a long-time employee of Dominion Power for many years, and then ended her career with the Department of Forensic Science in Richmond. Becky loved her family especially her nieces and nephews. 

Becky is survived by her sister, Deborah K. Laine and husband, Robert of Keysville; two nieces, Brittany Cortinas of Richmond and Bethany Lanier and husband, Andrew of Blacksburg; one nephew, who she gave his first dog to, a Bassett Hound named Wilford, Barrett Laine and wife, Krystal of Beaverdam; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; numerous cousins and friends. 

The family would like to thank Heritage Oaks and special friends, Linda Sharpe and Susie Madron, and family for the wonderful care they gave to Becky. 

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the SPCA, Randolph-Henry High School-Dick Bankston Memorial Fund and The Patterson Memorial at Ash Camp Baptist Church.
