Charles Allen Sherman

Charles Allen Sherman, age 67, of Wylliesburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018. He was born August 1, 1950 in Woodstock, VA and was the son of the late Neal Allen Sherman and the late Violet Ellen Sherman. Allen was the owner and operator of Tastee Freez in Chase City from 1985 until 2011 and Tastee Freez in Wylliesburg from 1992 until present. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City, former board member of the Mecklenburg Country Club, and former member of the Chase City Town Council. He was also a former member of the Virginia Association of Fairs and President of the South Central Fair. Allen is survived by his wife, Sharon Rogers Sherman; two sons, Erik Sherman of Wylliesburg and Kevan Sherman and wife, Amy of Chase City; two grandchildren, Emma Sherman and Brendan Sherman; brother, William Sherman of Chase City; sister, Cynthia Sherman of Chase City; brother-in-law, Larry Rogers and wife, Carol; niece, Heather Shymansky; two nephews, Timothy Sherman and Robert Sherman; and great-nieces and nephews, Ashleigh Sherman, Tamia Sherman, Jordyn Shymansky, and Owen Shymansky. He is also survived by his devoted friends, Ronnie Jenkins, Mike McGinnis, Ronnie Howard, Chris Jones, Peggy and Lawrence White, and Marilyn and Dean McCluster. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Neal Sherman.

Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, May 21, at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. The service was private.
