The Town of Drakes Branch has a new employee.

Charlie Brinkley who recently retired at 18 years with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is now serving as the town’s police officer.

“This community is lucky to have a great group of law enforcement officers with the Sheriff’s Office,” Brinkley said about his time working with the department.

Before Brinkley, the Town of Drakes was patrolled by the late Tommy Galbreath.

“As some people don’t know my Uncle Tommy was the town Sergeant for Drakes Branch for many years.”

Brinkley began his position with the town in October and in addition is employed by the Hampden-Sydney Police Department.
