Power outages in Charlotte County are down to less than 3,400 Thursday morning, but the number is expected to increase today as the area is pelted by a second major ice storm in a week.

Southside Electric Cooperative has 3,213 Charlotte County residents still without power. Dominion Energy is down to 156 people in the area still waiting for power to be restored. Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative no longer has Charlotte residents currently without power.

Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous today as a mixture of ice and snow will cover roads. U.S. 15 north and Highway 47 North in Charlotte County and Highway 92 North in Halifax County remain closed due to downed power lines.
