Halifax shooting investigated

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a shooting that occurred in Halifax County early Monday morning May 25.
According to a release from VSP, troopers were dispatched along with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and South Boston Police for a report of a vehicle being shot at by another vehicle on Sinai Road at approximately 2 a.m. Memorial Day.
When they arrived on scene, law enforcement located a black 1999 BMW crashed against an embankment off the right side of the road.
According to the VSP, the vehicle had been shot several times. The driver, a 20-year-old South Boston man, was located inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The driver was transported to Halifax Sentara Hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury. He has since been treated and released.
Further investigation revealed the suspect vehicle, described as a gray four-door sedan, had pulled up alongside the BMW when the shooting took place.
