An early spring
With temperatures above normal for the past few weeks, spring flowers have been popping up all over. This Thursday, March 19, marks the first day of spring. For much of the last century, the spring equinox has occurred March 20 or 21. This year, however, the equinox happens on March 19 in all U.S. time zones, making it an early spring. The last time spring arrived this early was in 1896 — 124 years ago.
