The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@TheCharlotteGazette.com. 

FEBRUARY 22

MEN AND BOYS PRAYER BREAKFAST, 8 a.m. at Mossingford Baptist Church. Men, bring your sons to hear an encouraging word and breakfast.

EARLY CHILDHOOD HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR, 9 a.m.-noon at Bacon District Elementary School. The target audience is the parents of children ages 2 to 8. The VPI Steering Committee hopes through this event they can promote and support the health and well-being of young students to set a solid and strong foundation for future health and education.

FREE FAMILY EVENT, 1 p.m. entitled “Birds of Prey” at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield. Program presented by Master Falconer Robb Herbst, who specializes in Virginia’s raptors.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Mossingford Baptist Church. The speaker will be the Rev Terrell, Pastor from First Baptist Church of Wyillesburg, along with the choir. Dinner will be served.

FEBRUARY 23

BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION, 11 a.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House with guest minister the Rev. Hurt and a guest choir rendering the music. A soul food lunch will be served.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 2 p.m. at New Witt Baptist Church. The message will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Calvin Gray accompanied by his congregation, the New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Appomattox. New Witt is located on Farmville Highway South. Everyone is welcome.

BLACK HISTORY SERVICE, 3 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church, Rice, entitled “Remembering the Past by Keeping the Dream Alive.” A soul food dinner will be served. All are welcome.

BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 11 a.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church. The Reverend Hurt from the First Rock Baptist Church will be the deliverer of the message. There will also be a guest choir. Come out to join us.

FEBRUARY 25

MEETING, 4 p.m. of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors at the Mullens-Starke Camp, 960 Woodman Road, Crewe. Note this is a change from the regular time and meeting location. The public is welcome.

FEBRUARY 26

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. hosted by The United Christian Alliance and Sunrise Service Committee at Mossingford Baptist Church with Pastor, the Rev. John L. Craighead delivering the message. The public is welcome.

FEBRUARY 29

THIRD ANNUAL SPORTSMEN WILD GAME DINNER, 5 p.m. at the Phenix Volunteer Fire Department. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The menu includes fried chicken, brisket, wild game dishes, and various sides. Door prizes for all ages. Hosted by Bethel Baptist Church, Phenix.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT, 6 p.m. at Red House Volunteer Fire Department. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The winner will receive a monetary prize. There will be a 50/50 drawing and food available for purchase.

MARCH 1

MEETING, 3 p.m. of The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club at the Keysville Fire Station located at 500 Osbourne Street. Experienced and newcomers are welcome.

MARCH 8

SUNDAY SERVICES, at St. Level Baptist Church, located Highway 15, Clarksville. Sunday School every Sunday at 10 a.m. with worship service on the second and fouth Sunday at 11 a.m. with pastor, the Rev. Toney W. Smith. Everyone is welcome.

MARCH 14

SOCIAL, 7 p.m. at 771 Greenfield Road, Charlotte Court House, for followers of all faiths and none. Prayers, music, socializing, dinner and refreshments. Everyone is welcome. Call (434) 208-0117 for more information.

MISSIONARY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at St. Level Baptist Church. Evanglist Mary Knighten of Greater Deliverance Tabernacle Church, Roxboro, North Carolina will deliver the message. All are welcome.
