The news was good this week for Hampden-Sydney College, as the school earned some national recognition. The Princeton Review named Hampden-Sydney to its 2024 Best Value Colleges list on Wednesday, one of only 209 schools in the nation to make the list.

The schools were chosen based on a combination of institutional and student survey data, including academic rigor, affordability, and career outcomes for graduates. The Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges list is narrowed down from more than 650 colleges and universities.

“The schools we chose earned our highest ROI (Return on Investment) ratings in this year’s analysis of our survey data,” Princeton Review officials said in a statement about the list. “Our ROI ratings are based on more than 40 data points that cover academics, affordability, and career preparation.”

To put that in perspective, Hampden-Sydney earned an ROI of 90 out of 99.

“It is gratifying to once again be included among Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges, and to have our No. 3 Best Alumni Network ranking affirmed,” says College President Larry Stimpert. “We are also thrilled to see our Best Schools for Internships ranking rise to no. 3.”

Though the Best Value Colleges list is not ranked hierarchically, The Princeton Review does report seven categories of ranked lists for this project: Top 50 Best Value Colleges, Top 20 Best Value Colleges with No Demonstrated Need, Top 20 Best Alumni Networks, Top 20 Best Schools for Internships, Top 20 Best Career Placement, Top 20 Best Schools for Financial Aid, Top 20 Best Schools for Making an Impact.

Hampden-Sydney ranks No. 3 on Top 20 Best Alumni Networks (Private Schools) and No. 3 on Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (Private Schools).

“We are delighted that Hampden-Sydney continues to be recognized for our extraordinary alumni network,” says Vice President for College Advancement Heather Krajewski. “The camaraderie within our Brotherhood and the commitment of our alumni to ensuring our students have an exceptional campus experience and lifelong connections that bridge generations are both unique and genuine. We are proud to be celebrated once again for this hallmark of Hampden-Sydney’s culture.”

Hampden-Sydney is also included in The Princeton Review’s The Best 389 Colleges in the country with the No. 1 Most Active Student Government, No. 2 Best College Library, No. 12 Happiest Students, No. 12 Best Career Services, and No. 14 Their Students Love These Colleges.
