Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Two members of the Randolph- Henry High football team have made their decision where to play next. On Thursday, May 2, friends, family, staff and coaches gathered to hear the choice from Kendell Boyd and Kayne Dailey.

Both teens are headed to Bluefield University this fall. It was a rough year for the Statesmen, as the team finished 1-9 overall, 1-5 in conference play. The squad’s only win of the year came in September, part of a 28-14 beating of Cumberland. But that was mainly due to injuries, with several starters out for multiple games. The coaching staff had to mix and match, to find players capable of suiting up for a position, regardless of how much experience they had. It helped players learn skills for multiple positions.

As for Boyd and Dailey, they’re prime examples of that. The 6’2, 238 lb. Dailey played linebacker, fullback and nose guard while the 6’1, 290 lb. Boyd suited up as both a center and norseguard.

“We are incredibly proud of these fine young men,” said Randolph- Henry Athletic Director Chris Holt. “We wish them only the best moving forward and look forward to following their future successes.”
