During the Drakes Branch Fire and Rescue meeting on Monday, July 10, the department’s chaplain presented a small gift of appreciation from a family that recently lost their home to a fire. While the home was a total loss they were able to save a item that was very close to them emotionally. The family wanted to give us something to show their appreciation. “This small token is why we do what we do,” said chief Kenny Tharpe. Pictured with the chaplain is the department’s first initial interior attack crew.
