HEALTH FAIR – Safe Haven Christian Ministries, located at 5150 Patrick Henry Highway in Meherrin, will hold a Health Fair Saturday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.


FISH FRY — The Ladies of 153 will hold a Fish Fry on Saturday, July 8, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge at 415 Griffin Boulevard in Farmville. The combo will include fish, fries and a drink for $10.


HOMECOMING — Aspen Hill Baptist of Brookneal will hold homecoming services on Sunday, July 9. The service begins at 11 a.m., with Rev. Maurice Finney delivering the message.

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY — St. Michael’s Baptist Church will honor Rev. James Goode and First Lady Tammy Goode’s 17th anniversary with the church on Sunday, July 9. The anniversary celebration will take place during the 11 a.m. service, with Rev. Haney Thomas Jr., pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin, delivering the message. The New Bethel Community Male Chorus will render the music.

JULY 10-13

REVIVAL — Aspen Hill Baptist of Brookneal will hold revival services from Monday, July 10 to Thursday, July 13. Rev. John Craighead will deliver the message each night.


BEEKEEPERS MEETING – The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers will meet Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Prince Edward County Extension Office, located at 100 Dominion Drive in Farmville, near Lowe’s. This meeting will feature a live, hands-on honey extraction. Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. WOMEN’S MINISTRY WORSHIP — A worship service with Confident Women Ministry is held every Sunday at 3 p.m. online via conference call. Services are led by Rev. Loretta Bailey and anyone is invited to call 1-657-390- 7012 to take part.

ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH — Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 125 Shiloh Church Road in Drakes Branch holds services every Sunday at 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Horace B. Parham Jr. is the pastor. All are welcome.

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
