Earlier this month, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was awarded re-accreditation status from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.
This program began in January 2005, and the Sheriff’s Office achieved its initial accreditation in January 2007, followed by first reaccreditation in January 2011 and again in 2015 and 2019. The accreditation system requires the highest of standards to be met and maintained, and the Sheriff’s Office is subject to yearly inspections and documentation reviews to ensure compliance with the 191 Standards covering Administration, Operations, Personnel, and Training.
The proof and documentation used come from the daily activities and operations of the jail/dispatch staff, road staff, tactical team, investigations, evidence custodians, school resource officers, and supervisors.
