Young Farmers set to meet in Halifax

The 2023 Virginia Farm Bureau Federation (VFBF) Young Farmers Winter Expo will take place Feb. 24-26 in Halifax County at Berry Hill Resort. The VFBF Young Farmers is a leadership development and networking program for farmers and agriculture industry professionals ages 18-35.

At least 180 young farmers are expected to gather to network, learn about key agricultural issues, and explore agriculture in the area.

Speakers for the event include Jennifer Tiller, deputy staff director for the House Agriculture Committee, who will discuss details of the 2023 Farm Bill, as well as Meredith Bernard, a digital an influencer known as This Farm Wife, who promotes agriculture on social media.

A panel discussion will also feature area farmers on different direct marketing strategies. Tours include Randolph-Henry High School Land Lab, Locust Level Farms and Huber Woods.
