OCTOBER 15
FFA CAR, TRUCK AND TRACTOR SHOW — The Randolph-Henry FFA chapter will hold its annual Car, Truck and Tractor Show on Saturday, October 15. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. at Central Middle School in Charlotte Court House. There will be a stew, music, trophies and prizes. A car, truck or tractor entry is $20 and general admission is $5.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION — Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Red House will be the site for distribution of USDA food boxes, along with food purchased with donations from Mt. Zion and Providence Baptist Church. Any resident of Charlotte County who needs food is welcome to come. Boxes will be given out beginning at 8:30 a.m. and run until 10:30 a.m. Reminder: you can receive USDA food monthly at only one site in Virginia. Please bring a large cardboard box and identification. Anyone with questions can call Bernice Pannell at (434) 248-6465.
ALUMNI SOFTBALL GAME — The Randolph-Henry sophomore class will host an alumni softball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event, which will be held at Deborah Laine Field, begins at 1 p.m. The cost is $7 admission and concessions will be sold.
WOMEN’S CONFERENCE — The Confident Women Ministry will hold their annual Women’s Conference on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event begins at 10 a.m. via conference call. To take part, call 1-657-390-7012. The theme is “Women Dealing With Rejection”, taken from John 15:18.

ELEMENTARY OPEN HOUSE — Phenix Elementary School will host an open house on Monday, Oct. 17. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., as staff invite local residents to come see the improvements that have been made at the school over the last three years.
OCTOBER 19
PUBLIC INPUT MEETING — The Commonwealth Regional Council wants local residents to weigh in on the proposed regional hazard mitigation plan. A public input session will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Kenbridge Town Hall Training and Conference Room. That’s located at 511 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge, on the bottom floor of the Kenbridge Town Hall building. A copy of the plan is being made available at all local libraries, as well as online by going to https://tinyurl.com/bdwafzza.
OCTOBER 22
CLEAN UP LITTER DAY — Charlotte County Department of Social Services will host a community cleanup day on Saturday, Oct. 22. People are asked to meet at Social Services, located at 400 Thomas Jefferson Highway, at 8:30 a.m. to begin. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.
PORK BARBEQUE DINNER — The Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department will hold a pork barbeque dinner on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can enjoy a plate of barbeque along with beans and coleslaw for $10.
OCTOBER 29
CAR AND BIKE SHOW — The Charlotte County Christmas Parents organization will sponsor a car and bike show on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be at the Heartland Business Park in Keysville. All show vehicles must be in place by 9 a.m. There is no entrance fee, but any donations will go to help make Christmas bigger for children in the community. WOMEN’S MINISTRY WORSHIP — A worship service with Confident Women Ministry is held every Sunday at 3 p.m. online via conference call. Services are led by Rev. Loretta Bailey and anyone is invited to call 1-657-390-7012 to take part.
ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.
AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.
ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.
BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.
HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.
PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
