SEPTEMBER 16

FARMERS MARKET — The farmers market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Drakes Branch Town Pavilion. It’s located at 4900 Drakes Main Street in Drakes Branch.

SEPTEMBER 24

PULL UP THE PLYWOOD DAY — The Salem School Preservation Committee will be having a “Pull Up The Plywood Day” at the Historic Salem School in Red Oak. The event will happen Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Salem School is located at the intersection of 632 and 608, across the road from Salem Baptist Church. Anyone who wants to volunteer and take part, call (434) 262-1712 or (434) 372-4318.

WINE FESTIVAL — The Barksdale Cancer Foundation is holding its annual wine festival, “Miss Janie’s Sit & Sip,” from noon to 6 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Osborne Street Park in Keysville. Organizers have booked four local wineries this year. Tasting and non-tasting tickets may be purchased online through PayPal or by credit card by visiting the website, www.barksdalecancerfou.wixsite.com/mysite and clicking on the upcoming events tab. Note that the link is not supported through Google; so use alternate web browser when purchasing tickets). Advance tickets are $20 for tasting and $15 for non-tasting. Tasting tickets are $25 at the gate; non-tasting ticket pricing is the same at the gate.

SEPTEMBER 25

HOMECOMING — Union Grove Baptist Church, located at 2006 County Line Road in Keysville, will hold a homecoming musical celebration on Sunday, Sept. 25. The event begins at 11 a.m., with musical guests Bill Joyner and Gospel Partners. A covered dish lunch will follow at noon.

OCTOBER 1

STEW SALE — Bethel Baptist Church in Phenix will sell stew on Saturday, Oct. 1. The cost is $7 per quart and money collected will go to support local missionaries serving overseas.

OCTOBER 2

ANNIVERSARY SERVICE — Providence Baptist Church, located at 1055 Lawyers Road in Red House, will hold a 250th anniversary celebration. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, during the 11 a.m. service. There will be a special service, remembering and celebrating heritage, as well as God’s faithfulness to all generations. A covered dish lunch will follow after the service.

OCTOBER 9

HOMECOMING — Phenix Presbyterian Church, located at 200 Church Street in Phenix, will hold a homecoming service on Sunday, Oct. 9. The service begins at 11 a.m., with lunch and fellowship afterwards.

OCTOBER 15

FFA CAR, TRUCK AND TRACTOR SHOW — The Randolph-Henry FFA chapter will hold its annual Car, Truck and Tractor Show on Saturday, October 15. The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. at Central Middle School in Charlotte Court House. There will be a stew, music, trophies and prizes. A car, truck or tractor entry is $20 and general admission is $5.

ST. MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
