The Charlotte County Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@TheCharlotteGazette.com.

SEPT.2

REVIVAL – St. Louis Baptist Church will finish revival services Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. Service can be attended inside the church or from the church parking lot. The guest speaker will be Rev. Haney Thomas Jr. of New Bethel Baptist Church in Meherrin. There will be no prayer and praise service.

FARMERS MARKET – The farmers market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2 at the Drakes Branch Town Pavilion. It’s located at 4900 Drakes Main Street in Drakes Branch. 

SEPTEMBER 10

COMMUNITY APPRECIATION DAY – American Legion Post #260 will hold a Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 10. The event begins at noon at Veterans Memorial Park in Keysville, with free hot dogs and drinks for everyone. 

SEPTEMBER 16

FARMERS MARKET – The farmers market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Drakes Branch Town Pavilion. It’s located at 4900 Drakes Main Street in Drakes Branch. 

HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING – Randolph-Henry High School will hold a homecoming parade and football game on Friday, Sept. 16. The game begins at 7 p.m., with the parade right beforehand. 

SEPTEMBER 17

FALL MARKET FEST – The Drakes Branch Main Street Pavilion will host a fall market fest on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a variety of vendors, products and activities. There will be handmade crafts and decor for sale, homemade baked goods and local produce. 

SEPTEMBER 24

WINE FESTIVAL — The Barksdale Cancer Foundation is holding its annual wine festival, “Miss Janie’s Sit & Sip,” from noon to 6 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Osborne Street Park in Keysville. Organizers have booked four local wineries this year. Tasting and non-tasting tickets may be purchased online through PayPal or by credit card by visiting the website, www.barksdalecancerfou.wixsite.com/mysite and clicking on the upcoming events tab. Note that the link is not supported through Google; so use alternate web browser when purchasing tickets). Advance tickets are $20 for tasting and $15 for non-tasting. Tasting tickets are $25 at the gate; non-tasting ticket pricing is the same at the gate.

MICHAEL BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch holds worship services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month Masks are required. The Rev. James E. Goode is the pastor.

AMATEUR RADIO MEETING — The Charlotte County Amateur Radio Club meets the first Sunday of the month at 1426 Estes Road in Chase City. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jason at (434) 944-9100.

ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen holds worship services at 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. the first, second, third and fourth Sundays. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church holds services at 11 a.m. the second and fourth Sundays at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe holds in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix worship service is at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal worship service is at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
