Robert “Bob” Larry Jones, 58 of Drakes Branch, passed away on Saturday, June 18. Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Jones.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Jessica Wickizer (Josh) and Brittni Jones (Amanda); his brother, Dr. Michael Jones; father, Dr. James L. “Jim” Jones and six grandchildren.

Bob was born on March 31, 1964, in Loudon, Tennessee to Dr. James and Sharon Jones. He was a graduate of Nottoway High School Class of 1982. He then went on to attend NC State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics.

Bob started his career in Murphy, North Carolina as the 4-H County Extension Agent and in 1988 moved to Drakes Branch, where he served Charlotte County for 30 years as the county Extension Agent and so much more. Bob was a wild spirit with a huge heart and many passions in life. His biggest being his love for sports, he was on the Crewe 1976 World Series baseball team and later in life enjoyed coaching his two daughters in softball for 10+ years. His love for the Tennessee Vols & NC State Wolfpack never went unnoticed. His passion for music and gardening were second to none. He took pride in everything he did and he lived life to the fullest.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

The family will hold a memorial service to honor the life of Bob on July 12, from 5 -7 p.m., at Joseph McMillian Funeral Homes, Blackstone.
