Dianne Tatum Royster, 67 of Chase City, passed away Saturday, May 14, at her home. She was born in Halifax County, on Oct. 27, 1954 and is the daughter of Lillie Mae Tatum and the late Leroy George Tatum. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew, “TG” Royster.
Dianne is survived by her husband, Tony Edward Royster; daughter, Amy Royster Spurlock (Steven) of Wylliesburg; son, Bradley Edward Royster of Weatherford, Texas; two grandchildren, Laci and Lance Spurlock; her mother, Lillie Mae Tatum; and sister, Lisa Tatum Wilkinson (“C.C.”). She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Timothy Royster (Patricia) and Randy Royster (Ellen); nieces and nephews, Josh Wilkinson, Jared Wilkinson, Holly King, Tiffany Brame, Ethan Royster, Kurt Royster and Kayla Royster; several great-nieces, great-nephews and many special friends.
Dianne graduated from Prince Edward Academy (Class of 1973) and received an Associate’s Degree from Southside Virginia Community College. She retired from B & B Consultants, Inc. as the Quality Manager.
Dianne was a loving, kind Christian woman and very devoted in her faith. She grew up attending Wylliesburg Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir and also held many other church roles. She served as an officer for The Gideons International Auxiliary.
Dianne’s favorite pastimes included planting flowers, gardening, going to the lake, boating and just being outside in the sun. She loved to travel, especially to Myrtle Beach, which was her favorite place. She was a bright person and enjoyed making everyone happy. Most of all, Dianne loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, at 2 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church, 9040 Trottinridge Road, Chase City, VA 23924, with Pastor Rodney Spears II officiating. Interment followed in the Wylliesburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received family and friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
