Eureka’s Spelling Bee held

The Eureka Spelling Bee took place Wednesday, Dec. 8. Ten students in first through fifth grades participated in the event. The following students were grade-level representative spellers: Luke Fallen, Jackson Patterson, Ava Jones, Kenneth Clark, Susannah Critzer, Jackson Dunn, Jack Clarke, Emilia de Silva, Sophia Cooper and Mackenzie Barton.
Fourth grader, Jack Clarke, was the spelling bee winner. In the 22nd and final round, Jack correctly spelled the word “detect” to earn first place. Third grader, Susannah Critzer, earned the runner-up position.
Jack and Susannah will advance to the Charlotte County Spelling Bee at Central Middle School on January 12, 2022.
The pronouncer was Jennifer Grey and the judges were Brenda Haskins, Wendy Patterson and Anne Snead.
