OCTOBER 1
VACCINATION CLINIC — The Virginia Department of Health’s Piedmont Health District is hosting a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Keysville on Friday, Oct.1 from noon – 4 p.m. This one-time clinic will be located at Southside Virginia Community College, located at 200 Daniel Road. The clinic will offer all the COVID-19 vaccines at no cost to the public. The Moderna vaccine and the single-dose Johnson & Johnson are available for anyone 18 and older. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is available for anyone 12 and older. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18.

BARKSDALE FOUNDATION WINE FESTIVAL — The Barksdale Cancer Foundation’s “Miss Janie’s Sit & Sip” wine festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Gil-Har House at 6447 Patrick Henry Hwy., Phenix. Tasting and non-tasting tickets for the festival may be purchased online through Paypal or credit card by visiting the website, www.barksdalecancerfou.wixsite.com/mysite.

BEEKEEPERS MEETING — The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers will meet at 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office near Lowe’s in Farmville (100 Dominion Drive, Farmville 23901). The topic will be a continuation of the discussion of Fall Management of Beehives. Anyone who has bees or is interested in bees is welcome. ESTATE PLANNING — Virginia Cooperative Extension is offering a free in-person workshop Wednesday, Oct. 6, titled “Estate Planning Essentials: Steps to Protect You & Your Family.” The workshop is scheduled for 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Prince Edward Extension office at 100 Dominion Drive. MEETING —The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors’ regular monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the County Administration Office, 250 LeGrande Avenue, Suite A, Charlotte Court House.

ALUMNI SOFTBALL GAME — The Randolph-Henry Sophomore Class is hosting a fundraising event Saturday, Oct. 16, 3 -5 p.m. Alumni that would like to play in the game can register at https://bit.ly/3nCEW51 by Friday, Oct. 8. COSTUMED RELAY RACE — The Charlotte Learning Center is sponsoring a Costumed Relay Race Oct. 23 from noon – 4 p.m. at 395 Thomas Jefferson Highway, Suite B, in Charlotte Court House. Teams should register in advance to obtain forms to track donating sponsors.

ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen will hold worship service the first and third Sundays at 11 a.m. Sunday school will be the first, second, third and fourth Sundays at 9:45 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.
BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church will hold services the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.
HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe will hold in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.
CHARLOTTE COURTHOUSE UNITED METHODIST — Until further notice Charlotte Courthouse UMC will be holding in-person services at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Masks are required to attend. Services will also be broadcast on Facebook Live.
PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Road, in Brookneal will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
