Teen hits fallen tree

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Charlotte County Friday, Aug. 6, at 1:47 p.m. on Patrick Henry Highway, less than a mile east of Scuffletown Road.

A 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling west on Patrick Henry Highway when a tree fell across the roadway. The vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck the tree. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest upside down off the right side of the road.

The driver, William C. Taylor III, 20, of Phenix, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger, Walker Taylor, 17 also of Phenix was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.

No charges were filed.
