FRIED CHICKEN DINNER — Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will have a drive thru fried chicken dinner fundraiser Friday, April 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Stay in your vehicle and pick up fried chicken, green beans, boiled potatoes, dessert and water for $10 per plate. Pre-orders are highly encouraged and may be placed by calling (434) 689-2739 prior to 10 p.m. daily. Pre-orders will be accepted until 10 p.m. Thursday, April 29.  The Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department’s Firehouse is located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road (the intersection of Palmer Springs Road, Rough Road and Mineral Springs Road) in Palmer Springs. 


PLANT SALE — The Charlotte County Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will have its annual plant sale May 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Drakes Branch Pavilion. Flowers, bedding plants and perennials will be available for purchase. For more information, contact the Charlotte County Extension Office at (434) 542-5884.


BEEKEEPERS TO MEET — The Heart of Virginia Beekeepers will meet Tuesday, May 4 at 6 p.m. on the patio of the Farmville-Prince Edward County Library at Wilcks Lake Public Area. The patio is on the Wilcks Lake side of the building. Please wear a mask and bring a lawn chair. If it is raining, the 6 p.m. meeting will be canceled. BLOOD DRIVE — A blood drive will be held Tuesday, May 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. Appointments to donate blood may be made at or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.


ST. ANDREWS BAPTIST CHURCH — St. Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen will hold worship service the first and third Sundays at 11 am. Sunday school will be the first, and third Sundays at 9:45 am until further notice. The Rev. Dr. Maurice Finney is the pastor.

BEAUTIFUL PLAIN BAPTIST — Beautiful Plain Baptist Church will hold services the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. at Beautiful Plain Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House until further notice.

HEBRON UNITED METHODIST — Hebron United Methodist Church in Saxe will hold in-person services at 9:45 a.m. until further notice. Masks are required to attend.

LEBANON UNITED METHODIST — Until further notice Lebanon UMC on Crofton’s Gate Highway in Drakes Branch will be holding in-person worship at 11 a.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month. Masks are required to attend.

CHARLOTTE COURTHOUSE UNITED METHODIST — Until further notice Charlotte Courthouse UMC will be holding in-person services at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Masks are required to attend. Services will also be broadcast on Facebook Live.

PHENIX UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Phenix United Methodist Church, 225 Church St., in Phenix will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.

MT. CARMEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH — Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1101 Mt. Carmel Rd., in Brookneal will have a worship service each Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. There will be no Sunday school.
