To the Editor:

My family and I have been living here, in the Red House, area for many years. We enjoy the area and the peace it offers.

However, as we drive around and through Charlotte County, which is probably several times during the week, we find, by comparison lately, that the side roads are turning into mid-size dumping areas.

Our nearest county, Appomattox, seems to make more of an effort to clean their roads/side roads. It certainly shows effort and caring.

Charlotte County, Red House in particular, has begun to resemble Gasoline Alley. It’s shameful. Since your governing body doesn’t show interest in cleaning up the trash, maybe the county supervisor and the rest of the board should consider giving tax incentives to folks who live here and have to look at the trash that’s being thrown from vehicles.

Give a tax break to property owners to keep their own frontage clean. Consider it. You might be pleased at the results.  I’m sure we would.
