The location of one of the community’s beloved senior citizens brought relief to many Tuesday, Jan. 19 as Richard L. Bankston was found after being missing overnight.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday morning that Richard L. Bankston, the 74-year-old white male who was reported missing Monday evening, had been found.
Bankston was found in a Walgreens store in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Bankston had driven to North Carolina by himself. Bankston was talking to a pharmacist in the Walgreens who alerted local authorities. He was located at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19
Bankston was born and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the subject of a statewide Senior Alert from the Virginia State Police Monday evening after he went missing Monday afternoon. Authorities said he may have been driving a gold Toyota Camry.
Bankston is well known in Charlotte County as former coach and athletic director at Randolph-Henry High School.
The Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office thanked the citizens for their help.
