Shelby Dunn ‘Doll’ Newcomb

Mrs. Shelby Dunn “Doll” Newcomb of Clover passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the age of 82.  She was born on July 21, 1937 in Charlotte County to the late William Benjamin and Margaret Doyle Dunn and was married to the late Clyde Newcomb.

“Doll” loved cooking, canning, shopping and kept her home spotless. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed making memories with family and friends. She was an active member of Clover United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and was very proud of having perfect attendance for many years. She was previously employed with Halifax County School System as a bus driver for over 30 years.

She is survived by a son, Clyde Wayne Newcomb of Farmville, Virginia; brother, William “Mann” Dunn and wife, Linda of Randolph; sister- in- law, Nancy June Dunn and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Phyllis Dunn, Nancy Trent and Bob Dunn.

Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Clover United Methodist Church with Reverend Kerry Halbert officiating. Interment will follow in Clover Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00-3:00, at the church and other times at the home of “Mann” and Linda Dunn.
