Alice Milton Elder, 97, of Brookneal passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 peacefully at home. She was the wife of the late Thomas Prescott Elder.

Mrs. Elder was born in Charlotte County, a daughter of the late Willie Dewey Milton and Viola Holt Milton. She was a lifetime member of Roanoke Presbyterian Church and a retired bookkeeper for Suburban Gas Co.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Wesley Elder of Chatham; a daughter, Ann Elder Nelson (Tommy) of Phenix; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Elder of Altavista; five grandchildren, Tommy Elder, Jr. (Cassandra), Pam Lewis, Sharon Adams (Scott), John Duffer, and Scott Elder (Jen); seven great-grandchildren, Collin Winters, Sarah Lewis, Wesley Elder (Amaris), Savannah and Hannah Elder, Allison and William Adams and a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Davis Elder; and a sister, Hortense Deaner.

A private funeral service was held Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Herndon Jeffreys followed by the interment at Roanoke Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
