Deacon Charles Thomas Smith, Sr., affectionally known as “Smitty”, was awarded the prize of victory as he was called to glory at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, April 17, 2020. Charles was born on June 28, 1948 to the late Mrs. Betty R. Smith Walker of Drakes Branch,VA.

Charles made a tremendous impact throughout the community as he served from his business, Smith’s Auto Sales. This business was a beacon in the town of Drakes Branch in Charlotte County, VA for 32 years. He will be remembered for his loving spirit, outgoing personality, and for being a man of wisdom.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Betty R. Smith Walker, daughter, Anethra Smith, and grandparents, Willie and Mary Randolph Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and faithful wife, Joyce; two sons, Charles Smith Jr. (known as Chuck) and Pastor Derek Smith, both of Tampa, Florida; god-daughter, Arielle Jones; special god-son, Hilary Allen McCargo Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Dennis and Mable Walton (Sam); a cousin who was like a sister, Thelma D. Jones (James); aunt, Mrs. Annie S. Gregory; brother-in-law, Raymond Wilborne; sister-in-law, Charlene Bowman; loving grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life Service was held 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2020 at the St. Michael Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
