Charlotte County listed as having four COVID-19 cases

The Monday COVID-19 update from the Virginia Department of Health saw cases of the coronavirus continue to rise in Buckingham and Prince Edward counties.

Cases in Buckingham County went up by two from 14 to 16 while Prince Edward County saw a large jump from nine to 13 cases. Lunenburg County went from three to four cases, Charlotte County is listed with four cases and Cumberland County continues to have eight cases.

Total deaths in the state rose to 149. The number of cases are now at 5,747.

The Virginia Hospital COVID-19 dashboard has added a metric showing how many patients diagnosed with the coronavirus have been discharged from the hospital. That number is currently at 467. The total number of people hospitalized with confirmed positive or who have been tested for the virus and are awaiting results is 1,238. There are currently 428 patients in ICU in Virginia and a total of 302 using a ventilator.

As of today, only 23% of ventilators in Virginia were in use. Hospital bed availability remains steady at 5,970.
