One person was killed and three others injured in a single-car accident early Saturday morning in Charlotte County.

Sean Blake Jackson Thompson, 25, of South Hill, one of three passengers in the car, was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene. A press release from Corinne Geller of the Virginia State Police said Thompson was not wearing a seat belt.

The release said a 2006 Toyota Camry was traveling west on Route 360 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the left side of the road. The crash occurred less than a mile west of Route 710.

“The driver over corrected, which caused the  car to run off the right side of the road, strike an embankment and overturned,” the release said.

The driver of the car, an adult female from Danville, and a passenger in the car, an adult female from Fredericksburg, were flown to the VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of what was described as serious injuries.

The third passenger in the car was an adult male from Danville. He was treated for minor injuries at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police Trooper H.J. Buzzetta. Charges are pending.
