The fourth graders at Bacon District Elementary have been studying planets with their teacher, Linda Moore.

To incorporate what was being learned in the classroom, Mrs. Watkins, the librarian, had the students work in pairs to research a planet. After the students chose their planet, they had to use non-fiction books, to find the answers to a questionnaire.

The questionnaire was obtained from the Comprehensive Instruction Program, which Charlotte County Public Schools belongs to.

After the research was complete, the students had to do a “rough draft” of a poster that would convey what each group had learned. Rhonda Jones, a retired teacher, came one day to help the students in the library work on their final project.

Not only were the students pleased with their projects, the teachers were proud of them. This project would not have been possible without the extra help provided by Jones and Moore.
