DARK-FIRED TOBACCO AND PIEDMONT BURLEY MEETING, 10 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, Phenix. This meeting will serve as grower training to satisfy the requirements set forth in the U.S. Tobacco GAP program and credit will be issued to individuals who attend the meeting in its entirety. EARLY CHILDHOOD HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR, 5-8 p.m. at Phenix Elementary School. The target audience are the parents of children ages 2 to 8. The VPI Steering Committee hopes through this event they promote and support the health and well-being of young students to set a solid and strong foundation for future health and education.

FOOD BANK, 10-11:45 a.m. Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House, for those in the Phenix and surrounding Red House community. Bring a large cardboard box and identification.
AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY PROGRAM, 1 p.m. hosted by the Central High Museum at the St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Willie Tisdale of South Hill. Music provided by the St. Michael Baptist Church choir. All guests are encouraged to wear African attire. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

CORE PROGRAM, 4 p.m. entitled ‘Preventing the Big One’, relating to risk factors of heart disease. The program is free and will be held in the CARE building, 1755 N. Mecklenburg Ave., South Hill.

THIRD ANNUAL SPORTSMEN WILD GAME DINNER, 5 p.m. at the Phenix Volunteer Fire Department. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The menu includes fried chicken, brisket, wild game dishes, and various sides. Door prizes for all ages. Hosted by Bethel Baptist Church, Phenix.
CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT, 6 p.m. at Red House Volunteer Fire Department. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The winner will receive a monetary prize. There will be a 50/50 drawing and food available for purchase.
