A young Central Middle School girls volleyball team avoided complacency during the 2019 season, building on what came before it to produce a solid, winning record that represents clear advancement for the program as a whole.

“Overall, we ended our season 8-5,” Lady Bobcats Head Coach Chrissy Barmoy said.

Noting the makeup of the 2019 squad, she said it consisted of 14 middle school players and one manager. There were four sixth-graders, six seventh-graders and four eighth-graders.

Barmoy expressed excitement over what this group of girls was able to accomplish on the court in both wins and losses during the team’s 13-match campaign.

“This was a major improvement from last year!” she said. “My girls came together and really fought this season. Almost every game we played ended up being very close. There were numerous 26-24 games — some that we pulled through and won and some that we ended up losing. Nonetheless, I am super-proud of my girls this season and all the hard work they put in.”

And the future looks bright for the Lady Bobcats too.

“I am excited for next year to have many returners as we are only losing four players,” Barmoy said.
