Each spring, the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) hosts the Annual Area Youth Art Month Exhibition, which showcases around 1,500 artworks created by students from public, private, and home schools in the 13 surrounding counties. At the close of the exhibition, one work from each school is selected for a yearlong highlights exhibition. The chosen artworks are matted, framed, and hung in the hallways of Longwood’s Hull Education Center, where they serve as an inspiration to tomorrow’s teachers.
These student artists will be honored by Longwood University at a ceremony and opening reception on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Hull Education Center (on the corner of Brock Commons and Franklin Street) at Longwood University.
Students whose work was selected for the exhibition are listed by county, with school and art teacher.
Charlotte County: Kiley Keen, Hannah Thompson, Carson McCall, and Damon Hodge of Bacon District Elementary School (Katy Clarke); Dylan Hall of Phenix Elementary School (Katy Clarke); Rachel Williams of Randolph-Henry High School (Alyson Oseguera).
Mecklenburg County: Nicole Queensberry of Bluestone Middle School (Laura Dedmond ‘08); Kisean Harris of Bluestone High School (Mike Jancart).
