The week of Sept. 23-27, kindergarteners at Eureka Elementary School celebrated “Apple Week.”
The week kicked off with a visit from the Charlotte County Extension Office. Darla Marks, Charlotte County extension agent, and volunteers presented a program featuring the apple tree cycle, apple tastings, making applesauce and even picking apples.
Students also learned about the legend of Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman), did apple paintings, made stained glass apples, sorted, graphed and patterned apples, read books about apples, made mini apple pies, and at the week’s end, had an “apple foods” tasting party. Eureka’s kindergarten students love apples.
