Mrs. Rosa Almeta Pannell age 84 of Brookneal Va., daughter of the late Mr. Philip and Mathilde Elam, passed away on October 8, 2019.

She was married to the late Earnest Pannell, Sr.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Carlthon Elam. She was also preceded in death by five of her children, Alfonzo Jr., Michael and Nathan DeWayne Smith, Lavelette Selena Smith-Pannell and Debbie Wade; one grandson, Donshell Walton.

Rosa is survived by one daughter, Dana Smith; two sons Keith and Hugh Smith; five sisters, her twin Bertha Gaines, Frances Townsend, Iris Bates, Catherine Elam and Patricia Elam; two brothers, Carl Elam and Earl Elam; twenty-two grandchildren, Samod, Shani, Danny, Sharon, Tracey, Veronica, Lawrence, Tolear, Marc, Eric, Crushunda, Shari, Shavonne, Keith, Nathalie, Locushal, Donyell, Hugh Jr., Angela, Tonya, Shaquan and ShaQuira; a host of great-grand children; five great-great grandchildren. Her love lives on through generations of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 12, at 1:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal with interment in Ridgeway Presbyterian Cemetery in Brookneal.
