Beatrice Edwards “Sue” Toombs, age 77, of Red Oak, Virginia passed away at her home on Thursday, October 10, 2019. She was born September 13, 1942 in Mitchell County, North Carolina. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sue was a great cook and always made sure that everyone that came in her home was fed. She was a life-long member of Public Fork Christian Church in Red Oak and also attended Wylliesburg Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ernest S. Toombs, Jr.; her mother and father, Emma Lou Rogers and Robert Rogers; her biological father, James Edwards; and two brothers, Jimmy Edwards and Billy Rogers.

Sue is survived by her children, Jessica Zoby (Dan Schreiner) of Portsmouth, Lisa Whitt of Red Oak, Ernest Toombs of Red Oak, William Bond of Red Oak, and Chris Zoby of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Benjamin Zoby, Zelda Grace Grella (Jacob), Danielle Schreiner, and Hannah Covington (David); and one great-grandchild, Rosalee Covington. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Wexler; half-brother, Bobby Rogers; two half-sisters, Kathy and Kay; and special friends, Bobby and Brenda Olinger.

A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 13, at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation followed the service.
