Former Randolph-Henry High School multi-sport standout Joe Reed, pictured above, has been making the most of his senior season at the University of Virginia, and his show-stopping heroics on special teams for the Cavaliers led CBS Sports to name him a midseason All-American, as noted at 247sports.com. Reed was given the honor as a kick returner, and the 247sports.com article specifically mentioned that he has a 100-yard touchdown this season and was averaging 34.9 yards per return this year as of Oct. 15. According to stats at NCAA. org as of Oct. 29, Reed is second in the nation at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level in yards per kickoff return, averaging 38.1, and in kickoff return yards, with 685. Reed and the Cavaliers (5-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) will visit the University of North Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
