Pastor Andy Benton has been called to serve Friendship Baptist Church at 239 Friendship Church Road, beginning with the worship service at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8.

Pastor Benton was born and raised in Sitka, Alaska, and is blessed to have served in the United States Marine Corps, before retiring in 2003. As a graduate of the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and the Liberty University School of Divinity in pastoral ministries, Pastor Benton has also served as an interim pastor with the Tabernacle in Danville, Sycamore Baptist Church in Gretna, as a college pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church and as the Associate Director of Hope Aglow Prison Ministries in Lynchburg, prior to this appointment.

“I look forward to serving the Drakes Branch community, as Friendship Baptist actively helps to meet local needs and provides a God honoring environment, which is open to all ages with a focus on equipping disciples for Jesus Christ and changing the world around us,” says Pastor Benton. To celebrate his calling, the church will hold an installation service followed by a time of food and fellowship, to be announced within the month.
