Randolph-Henry High School’s (R-H) varsity golf team enjoyed a 4-0 run last week to improve to 15-2 overall this season, including an 11-1 mark in the James River District. On Thursday, the Statesmen played at Nottoway River Country Club and produced a 162 team score, defeating Nottoway High School’s 193 and Cumberland County High School’s 206. Leading the effort for R-H were junior Jordan Colbert, with a 38; junior Brenden Francisco, with a 39; freshman Lindsey Towery, with a 41; and freshman Austin Queensberry, with a 44. On Aug. 27 at Briery Country Club, the Statesmen shot a 167, topping Amelia County High School’s 203 and Buckingham County High School’s 222. Among those making the top four for R-H was junior Caleb Shook, pictured at left. He was joined by Colbert, Francisco and senior Matthew Taylor.
