Randolph-Henry High School’s (R-H) varsity football team opens its 2019 season Friday, hosting Nelson County High School, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
“I think they’re like a lot of spread teams,” Statesmen Head Coach Zach Orlando said of the Governors. “They have a quarterback that’s pretty athletic. They have some receivers that they like to get the ball to. I think if they had their way, they like to run a lot of up-the-middle stuff, run the quarterback once they get you kind of drawn in on that. They’re a quick-hitting pass team. They don’t really chuck it down the field a ton. … They like to throw a lot of little screens, little quick outs and stuff like that.
“Defensively, they’re almost a mirror image of us the way they line up, so I feel like we’re pretty familiar with that.”
R-H hopes to have running back Chris Redd healthy.
