The University of Virginia (U.Va.) revealed in a Thursday press release that senior wide receiver and kick return specialist Joe Reed, a former Randolph-Henry High School standout, has been named to the preseason Paul Hornung Award Watch List, as announced by the Louisville Sports Commission. The U.Va. release continued by noting that the Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, annually recognizes the most versatile player in major college football. Reed, a third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honoree as a kick returner, finished No. 2 in the ACC and No. 9 in the nation with his 27.2 yards-per-return average in 2018. He also had 25 receptions for 465 yards — averaging 18.6 yards per reception — and seven touchdowns in 2018. Reed is one of four ACC players to make the 44-person watch list.
