Deaconess Margaret Davis Gilbert, age 76 of Phenix, passed away on May 25, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Kenneth Hurt and Mrs. Katherine Dews Hurt.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Louis Gilbert of the home; step-daughters, Iris Denise Gilbert Curtis of Maryland, Norma Jean Gilbert (Eldridge) of Lynchburg, Barbara Washington Pennix of Appomattox and Joyce Nabinett of Washington, D.C.; God daughters, Veronica Denise Dews (David) of Phenix, Cheryl Anita Lovelace of Woodbridge; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Hancock (Morgan) of Brookneal and Nancy Walker (Jesse) of Appomattox; sisters-in-law, Estelle Haskins of Pamplin, Christine Marshall, Betty Venable of Maryland, Margaret Flood (Conwell) of Appomattox, Mildred Brogden of Phenix, Eleanor Brogdon (Larry) of Pamplin, Delores Jones of Washington, D.C., Jeanette Graves of Hurt, Dorthula Hurt of East Orange, NJ; brothers-in-law, James Gilbert (Vanessa) of Manassas and Charlie Gilbert (Florine) of Concord; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
