Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity girls tennis team and its No. 1 singles player, freshman Grace Algeier, pictured at right, finished as runners-up in the Region 2A team and singles tournaments, respectively. The No. 1 Lady Statesmen topped visiting No. 4 Poquoson High School 5-3 on May 22 to advance to the regional team final against No. 2 Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School. Randolph-Henry fell 5-0 on Friday but secured a berth in the state tournament, which begins this weekend. Algeier struggled in the singles final but was dominant in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
