Former Randolph-Henry High School baseball standout Carter Strickland, pictured above and at left, is nearing the conclusion of his freshman year of college ball with nearby Longwood University. The Lancers (11-38) have struggled significantly this year due to injuries on their pitching staff, but Strickland has been able to gain some experience on the mound. In seven appearances and 5.1 innings pitched, he has a 5.06 ERA and has thrown four strikeouts.
