REVIVAL SERVICES, 7 p.m. nightly at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Mount Calvary Road, Brookneal. The Rev. John Smith, Pastor of Green Creek New Site Church of Farmville, will be the guest speaker. The public is welcome.

OPENING, 10 a.m, The Charlotte County Farmer’s Market in Drakes Branch.

INTERACTIVE SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM, 6-7:30 p.m. at Central Middle School cafeteria, 250 Statesmen Drive, Charlotte Courthouse. Learn what may be hidden in your teen’s bedroom and take a closer look at drug trends, youth behavior and how to start a conversation with your teen. Free pizza will be served. Adults 18 and older. Sponsored by Piedmont Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.

MAY 4

MULTI-FAMILY YARD SALE, in lot beside Family Dollar in Keysville to benefit Randolph-Henry Young Life. Name brand clothing, shoes, games, furniture and lots more.

COLTON OSBORNE SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT, 9 a.m. at Spurlocks Ballfield, 10 Tinker Road, Chace City. If you are interested in getting up a team call Angie (434) 470-1294 or C.J. (434) 390-1236. There will be concessions and bring a lawn chair. All proceeds go to the scholarship to be awarded to a senior at Randolph Henry High School and one at Bluestone High School. Come out for a day of fun and watch some ball.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, 10 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak. All women are welcome. Director will be first lady Octavia Allen.

3RD ANNUAL WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP CONFERENCE, 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Red House. Laurietta Faulkner, first lady of the White Oak Fork Baptist Church will be the special guest along with the Women’s Ministry of her church. Light refreshments will be served.

FLORAFEST, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. hosted by the Charlotte County Master Gardeners. Plant sale and lecture to be held at the Extension Office in Charlotte C.H.

PAMPLIN BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. Free old-time music and dance, dance instruction and community social. Beginners are encouraged.

MAY 5

QUARTER AUCTION, 1:30 p.m. at Bacon District Fire Department, Wylliesburg. Concessions will be available. Bring your friends and plenty of quarters for bidding.

JAZZ IN THE GARDENS, 5-7 p.m., an annual event going back 20 years or so, featuring The Southside Jazz Quintet at MacCallum More Museum & Gardens, Chase City.

MAY 6

COMMUNITY MEETING, 7 p.m. at Bacon District Firehouse. News about your County’s government, including the Budget. Hosted by Supervisor Kay Pierantoni.

MAY 7

BLOOD DRIVE, 1-6 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church.

BEEKEEPERS TO MEET, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office. Rick Fisher, the district’s representative to the State Beekeepers Association and his wife Pamela (former President of VSBA and President Emeritus of EAS), will present a program on “Splits for swarm control and colony increases” and talk about the State Beekeepers Association. ANNUAL WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 4050 Salem School Road, Red Oak. Prayer and praise service starts at 10:45 a.m. Anyone interested in singing, rehearsal will be held Saturday, May 4, at noon. Come out and let’s lift the Lord’s name in songs and the Word.

USED BOOK SALE, 9 a.m.-noon at Charlotte Court House library. Proceeds benefit all four Charlotte County libraries.

MAY 19

SHILOH MISSIONARY SOCIETY’S WOMEN’S DAY, 2 p.m. Women of the Bible. Choose a person and notify Sister Arlene Dailey as soon as possible. Guest choir will be Voices of Christ and Shiloh Praise Dancers will perform. If not representing a woman of the Bible, wear white. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served. PASTOR’S 13TH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at St. Michael Baptist Church, Drakes Branch for their pastor, the Rev. James E. Goode. The Rev. Jimmie Dews, pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church in Brookneal will bring the anniversary message accompanied by his choir. Everyone is welcome. Dinner will be served.
