Henry Daniel Bentley Jr., age 83, of Keysville, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 12, 2019. Daniel was the son of Henry Daniel Bentley, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bentley. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of fifty-three years, Lucy Newcomb Bentley; two sons, H. D. Bentley, III, and Randy W. Jones; as well as two brothers, James Rutledge, and William Rutledge; and two sisters, Mary “Fannie” Shook, and Edna Mae Lickey.
Daniel is survived by his two daughters, Bonita J. Hamlett (Scotty), and Elizabeth B. Burnett (Robert); one son, Clifton W. Jones, Jr.; one brother, Forrest Preston “Buddy” Bentley (Peggy); seven grandchildren, Kimberly Eason (Adam), Michele Bolton (Matthew), Crystal Travis (Chris), Nicole Collins (Jonathan), Destinee Jones, Tiffany Jones, Brandon Jones (Lotte); and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Travis, Vivian Eason, Caleb Eason, Brody Bolton, Avery Bolton, Gabriel Collins, and Crystanna Collins.
Daniel was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church. He loved his church family. Daniel was an avid fisherman and quail hunter. He assisted in developing the Keysville Dixie Youth Ballpark and coached Dixie Youth Ball teams.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at Emmanuel Bible Church, Keysville, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte C. H. The family received friends and family at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Keysville Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of your choice.
The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, was in charge of arrangements.
