For the third consecutive year, Charlotte County Relay for Life has been named No. 1 Nationwide for funds raised per capita income a recent press release stated. The release went on to say, “This recognition is not only a huge recognition for the hard-working Relay Teams, but is also a recognition of the generosity shown by everyone who donated to help fight cancer. Charlotte County is not the wealthiest county nationwide, but they have the No. 1 most generous citizens in the nation. And they have the hardest working Relay team members too.”
In 2018 Charlotte County Relay for Life raised over $145,000, to surpass their goal for the fourth year. For 2019 team members voted to raise their goal to $155,000, a challenge for them and their supporters. To date, teams have raised $129,807.50, or 83 percent of their 2019 goal. With Relay 2019 scheduled for June 1, activities and fundraisers are planned to raise the rest. Watch for announcements of upcoming fundraisers and events and come out to support the teams. They work hard to raise money for research so a cure can be found, as well as to support cancer survivors.
The release further cited, “We appreciate everyone who has supported Relay for Life in the past. When a Relay volunteer asks for your support or invites you to attend a fundraiser, remember that research is what has brought cures and will bring new treatments for every cancer victim. Relay for Life fights for cures for all of us.”
