Students from the counties of Charlotte, Mecklenburg and Halifax have been involved in an array of career development activities providing a jump-start on their careers. Over 1,000 students have had face to face career development interaction since November.
Recent field trips introduced students to the Career Tech Academy (CTA) at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC). This academy offers a dual enrollment program for rising juniors and seniors focusing on providing skills and certifications for high demand jobs in Southern Virginia.
To date, 95 students have visited the SVHEC to specifically gauge interest in CTA programs available to them while still in high school. CTA offers programs to high school juniors and seniors. Located on the campus of SVHEC, the CTA offers academic and technical training related to careers in mechatronics and information technology. These classes provide students the opportunity to earn college credit and globally recognized certificates.
