Keysville has begun the survey process necessary to develop a new comprehensive plan. A public service announcement from the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) stated the Town of Keysville would like to invite citizens to participate in the preparation of the town’s new comprehensive plan.

According to the announcement, “Community input has proven to be an invaluable and important part of a comprehensive plan, and the love Keysville citizens have shown for their community has been a pivotal and instrumental voice in this process.”

To help the town in this process, a survey will be sent out to citizens and town business owners in late February. The survey will also be available on the town’s website and the town’s Facebook page. Surveys are an important part of the comprehensive planning process. All information provided is confidential, and will assist in gathering information on issues important to citizens. Surveys need to be completed online or returned to the Keysville Town Office by March 22. Anyone who has questions or needs additional information are encouraged to contact the office at (434) 736-9551 or keysville@ kinex.net; or Todd Fortune, CRC deputy director at (434) 392-6104 or TFortune@virginiasheartland.org.

Fortune spoke recently with The Charlotte Gazette and shared his  thoughts on the importance of citizen’s awareness and participation relative to a new comprehensive plan’s development.

“We are still early in the process,” Fortune said. “Right now it’s important that we get the information about the survey to as many Keysville residents as possible. The survey is available to complete online now and it will be mailed out to residents very soon. Completing the survey is vital to creating a new comprehensive plan.”
